{Simply Lovely Sunday Thought} Lately.

Well the school year ended in a flash - and now there is lots going on - at home and school!
I can't believe we're flying thru June.

So now I've settled into a summer routine... sleeping in a bit, lots of reading and some work around the house and classroom (let's be honest I'm still at school several days a week ... closing up last school year and already preparing for the fall).

a few fun things going on...

~ I'm learning how to play the ukelele {my current favorite}

~ we are eating sugar free for 30 days {attempting the 'Whole30' to be exact}

~ my pup and I are trying to jumprope. together. at the same time. {If this is ever successful I'm probably going to retire from teaching and enter us in the circus.}

~ taking photos for friends and lots of photo editing

Oh and of course I took a huge break from writing on this blog. Which was actually really nice. And probably very much needed.

But it is fun to catch up now and then :)

A Simply Lovely Sunday Thought {Back Behind the Lens}

This morning I got out the camera for one of those more "posed" types of photo sessions. And you know what, it felt incredibly nice.

Today I was especially excited, because these portraits were in celebration of our friends' baby boy turning one year old!

Which would of course also feature his proud big sister!

I loved spending today with those two little blondes and their very kind parents. {And my husband, the man with all the tricks to keep a three year old girl busy during brother's portion of the photo session... thank you J!} Thanks guys for the little push to put my camera to use :)

A Simply Lovely Sunday Thought {On My Bookshelf}

There is no Frigate like a Book

To take us Lands away

Nor any Coursers like a Page

Of prancing Poetry –

This Traverse may the poorest take

Without oppress of Toll –

How frugal is the Chariot

That bears the Human Soul –

A Simply Lovely Sunday Thought: Juicing

It's true we've been doing the "juicing" thing.

And this combination we like... quite a bit...

Spring Green Juice
2 small bunches of a leafy green (we're using Kale and Spinach right now)
1 cup chopped fresh pineapple
3 apples

Enjoy!

A Simply Lovely Sunday Thought {Let's Get Together}

Things for our pets have been interesting lately. We are learning how to live all together. Slowly losing the barriers that have kept the playful puppy from annoying the pair of cool cats.

Our dog has calmed down quite a bit. And she has learned many things since she first came to live with us. {Most important lessons - how to "stay", be "gentle", and try your best not to mess with the cats}

Our cats can barely tolerate her. But I swear it is getting better.

So happy to have a few successful evenings of every being in our home sharing one space.

A Simply Lovely Sunday Thought {Miles in February}

I had taken a bit of time away from my monthly running goals. Something about all the family stuff going on in December and January. It was difficult to get my miles in while traveling around a snowy state.

When February hit, I was done with my lame excuses. Which meant I had to hit up our local Y to get in some miles.

  I joined many others {via instagram} in a 48 mile challenge in February.

One great thing about a monthly challenge is it keeps me on top of weekly work outs. I can really feel an improvement in my running since last summer. I can't wait for spring to log some miles on a few favorite trails in our local preserve.

March's goal is to cover 50 miles... that works out to be just under 2 miles a day. That doesn't sound so bad... maybe around March 20th I'll be singing a different tune :)
